The Chabad Jewish Center Of FiDi is directed by Rabbi Nissi and Chaya Eber, under the auspices of Rabbi Shmaya and Rochel Katz of Chabad of Wall Street and the worldwide Chabad movement.

Rabbi Nissi Eber
At just 14 years old, while studying at a Yeshivah high school in Brooklyn, Nissi began spending his Fridays in Manhattan’s Financial District—meeting Jewish professionals, helping them put on Tefillin, lighting Shabbat candles, and sharing a moment of Torah amidst the hustle of Wall Street.

His rabbinic journey would eventually take him across the globe. From Brooklyn to Paris, Buenos Aires to Jerusalem, he immersed himself in Torah study, outreach, and service. During his years in yeshivah, he volunteered his Passovers and summer breaks to serve Jewish communities in far-flung corners of the world—including Peru, Russia, Nepal, Brazil, Costa Rica, and the island of Réunion.

Chaya Eber
Chaya was born and raised in Montreal, Canada, and completed her studies in Safed, Israel. She is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Special Education and Early Childhood—an ideal match for her natural warmth, insight, and love of children and families.

Over the years, Chaya has directed and volunteered at Jewish summer camps across the globe, including in Texas, California, Guatemala, Ukraine, Sweden, and Thailand—bringing joy, creativity, and Jewish pride wherever she went.

Building Community Together
After their marriage in 2013, Nissi continued his outreach in the Financial District, while Chaya began offering her own classes and programs for women and young families.

Together—with warm smiles, open hearts, and a non-judgmental approach—they’ve created vibrant, inclusive programming that speaks to the unique rhythm and energy of Lower Manhattan.

From Shabbat dinners and holiday celebrations to Torah classes, Hebrew School, and one-on-one guidance, the Ebers have built a warm and growing hub for Jewish life downtown—with a vision to make every Jew feel welcome, valued, and inspired.

Their young children have become beloved members of the team—joining in the outreach with their irresistible smiles and pure joy, brightening events and warming hearts simply by being their adorable, authentic selves.

From Vision to Reality
The Ebers’ grassroots efforts led to a meaningful collaboration with Chabad of Wall Street and the founding of The Jewish Learning Experience – Chabad FiDi.

As the community grew, the journey naturally evolved into something bigger: the creation of the Chabad Jewish Center of FiDi.

The Chabad Jewish Center of FiDi
Today, the Chabad Jewish Center of FiDi stands as a vibrant, ever-growing hub for Jewish life in Lower Manhattan—serving professionals, families, and individuals from all walks of life.
